Guthrie Devine is a photographer and digital artist living in the San Gabriel Valley in Southern California. He is partly self-taught and partly trained by Art Center College of Design.
Much of his work is infused with a bathetic and sometimes darkly humorous juxtapositions of the highbrow and the lowbrow, the fantastic and the mundane, with non-photographic works frequently driven by stream-of-consciousness.
As a photographer, he avoids human subjects, instead highlighting the odd and overlooked corners of the everyday world, primarily architectural and infrastructural detail leaning into abstraction and simplification.
